Christmas is starting early with an explosion of free, fun activities at a shopping centre today.

The Baytree Shopping Centre and the Brentwood Business Partnership (BBP) are delighted to once again join forces to host a day out for families this afternoon, involving businesses and retailers.

From a lucky dip to win prizes from businesses such as Holland and Barrett, WHSmiths, Better Gym, to children’s activities like arts and crafts workshops, glitter face-painting and magical storytime with Mrs Clause, hosted by the Chicken and Frog Bookshop.

You can also win a chocolate prize by visiting the shopping centre’s website and print off and colour its picture of a Christmas tree in time for Saturday or colour it in on the day.

As well as these, there will be a performance from kids dance troupe Razzamatazz, Big Sing choir and a chance to take a few selfies by the Christmas flower wall.

Centre manager Dan Foley said: “This year, we’re bringing the community and the environment together.

“Christmas is the best time of year to show this.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be working with HubBub and are really excited about our family Christmas event which we know the local community will love.”

This year, the team will be working alongside charity HubBub to get everyone involved in the importance of recycling, helping shoppers to create the perfect Christmas accessory.

In the run up to the event, they are also encouraging people to bring their recyclables into the centre, so they can be turned into magical Christmas art to decorate the event.

Recyclables can be dropped off at the Baytree Shopping Centre Management Suite.

Chairman of the business partnership Mike Hawkins said: “The BBP are delighted to be part of this year’s Christmas event with many local retailers getting involved we have even more of a community spirit.”
