A caring couple that run a home health care service, inspired by a grandmother's own support, have been recognised for their hard work.

Owners of Home Instead Senior Care, Blackmore, Claire and Steve Willoughby, have received an Outstanding rating from independent care sector regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The couple have been praised for going “the extra mile”, supporting older people to have an exceptional quality of life across Brentwood, Billericay and Upminster.

Claire said: “We are exceptionally proud of our caring team and to receive an outstanding rating is very much about all their hard work and dedication.”

Steve’s grandmother lived in her own home until she was 92-years-old and his mum became her main carer in later years but as she didn’t live close by, she needed additional support from carers.

It was seeing the benefits of such a service that attracted the couple to the care sector.

They realised that other people would find themselves in the same situation and are delighted to care for older people whilst giving their families much needed peace of mind.

In the report, inspectors acknowledged the strong community links which had been created and how Home Instead is working in partnership with a number of other organisations supporting older people.

They were impressed by how the company supported people living with dementia and are registered as Dementia Friends.

Home Instead was once again praised for its community initiatives such as the free educational workshops they provide, where they host talks on various subjects which can affect older people such as dementia, fraud and nutrition.

They are also active fundraisers and this year saw them bring clients, caregivers and local people together to knit an amazing 900 tiny little hats for the Big Knit campaign, raising money for AGE UK.

Steve said: “Working together as a team is at the heart of everything we do.

“We are passionate about providing only the very best of care, not only for our clients but also for older people in our local community.”
