As part of Brentwood Borough’s Council Spruce Up the High Street campaign, the neighbourhood action team, joined by volunteers and businesses, carried out a number of tasks including painting railings, washing phone boxes, weeding and installing new rubbish bins.

The local authority’s chairman of the environment and enforcement committee, Councillor Keith Parker, said: “Keeping the Brentwood borough clean is a big part of what our street scene team and neighbourhood action team do, and the work will not stop after this week of action, but the Spruce up the High Street campaign was a good start on giving the area a deep clean.

“A special thank you goes to the volunteers and to the Baytree Centre and Nicholls Build for donating cleaning supplies.”
