A super summer of showjumping success has set up a 14-year-old horse rider perfectly for a prestigious horse riding competition.

Brentwood School student Eloise Squibb and her pony Rudgeway Maestro could not be faulted at last month's 2019 British Showjumping National Championships held at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre Stoneleigh (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry.

The dynamic duo took the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters national title after a rapid round.

Eloise was up against a field of 34 of the UK's best young riders and an early draw in the jump off meant the pressure was on to be quick.

She flew around the up-to-height course and finished 0.3 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor to become national champion.

Eloise will be taking part in Horse of the Year Show - the highlight of the equestrian calendar - next month.
