A sea cadet unit was delighted to receive a donation to help fund its boating activities to coincide with its 75th anniversary.
On Thursday, January 10, during the annual Cadet Awards evening, Ian Spring from the Worshipful Company of Bowyers presented the Brentwood Sea Cadets unit TS St. Vincent with a cheque for £1,500 for the groups activities in 2019.
Executive officer PO (SCC) Samantha Hayward said: “This wonderful donation will help all of our cadets to receive amazing experiences on the water.
“It will help our cadets to meet their potential through first class training programmes and help them to gain Internationally recognised qualifications.”
The Brentwood unit, which was also celebrating it’s 75th year, had on show the trophies and awards that it had gained throughout 2018.
Among the numerous awards for national, district and area competitions were: the Peter Board Memorial Trophy for commitment to inshore boating, The Rosemary Dand Memorial Trophy for best results in advanced catering and the London Area unit co-operation award for help and support to others.
The Sea Cadets is a national youth charity, offering a different kind of adventure for 10-18-year-olds.
The Brentwood Unit meet twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, from 7.15pm at TS St. Vincent, King Edward Road, Brentwood.
