The Ursuline Preparatory School Netball squad in Brentwood has been travelling around the region for the latest tournament.

The U11s travelled to Alleyn Court School in Southend to compete in the ISA (Independent Schools Association) regional netball tournament.

Thirteen schools competed, where they split into two pools of six and seven teams. Ursuline beat five teams, putting them at the top of their pool.

Playing Alleyn Court in the semi-finals, it was a closely fought match which ended in a 3-3 draw. Extra time put the score up to 4-4 where a golden goal would decide the winner.

It was a nail-biting end to the game, but the girls' strength prevailed as eventually they scored that crucial goal, putting them through to the national finals in Rugby later this year.

If that was not enough excitement for the day, they then played in the final to see if they could win the tournament and bring home the trophy.

The final was against Finborough School, who were also determined to take the trophy home. This was yet another tight game with the full time score ending 2-2. Extra time was given but no goals were scored.

For the second time that day it went to a golden goal.

The ball travelled between both teams for what felt like hours but eventually, Ursuline Prep managed that all important goal making them the winners of the tournament.
