A beloved theatre celebrating its 25th anniversary will be busy marking the occasion for the rest of this month.

The Brentwood Theatre, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, has got a number of events planned to take place in January, especially for their loyal customers.

On Saturday, January 12, the theatre will be opening its doors to anyone and everyone who wants to explore the theatre.

From theatre tours, storytelling and workshops, to exhibitions, demonstrations and performances, there will be plenty to keep visitors entertained.

As well as this, a special production of Charley’s Aunt - the first ever play to be produced at the theatre - will be performed from Thursday, January 17, to Saturday, January 19.

The play tells the story of young Charley’s rich aunt Donna Lucia, visiting from Brazil.

And for him, the timing couldn’t be better as her presence as a chaperone will allow him and his friend Jack to ask their true loves Amy and Kitty for their hands in marriages.

But on learning she was going to be delayed several days, they blackmail their eccentric friend Lord Fancourt Babberley, to save their romantic plans and pose as Donna Lucia when the real aunt arrives.

As well as this, Brentwood Theatre will be having a party to celebrate talent in the borough, who all call the theatre their home for performing.

Residents are invited to join the evening which will be filled with music, drama and comedy performed by some of the best actors, singers and musicians Brentwood has to offer.

Theatre manager Ian Southgate said: “Brentwood Theatre opened its doors in December 1993 and at the start of our 25th year we’re going to be celebrating in style, acknowledging the past and the present while looking to the future, and we’re inviting you to join us for what is going to be a month of great events this January!”
