We had an amazing time on Saturday with our trustee, Leona Lewis, joining us for the day. It was great to see so many people down there, and getting into the festive spirit with their Hopefield Christmas jumpers!

This week, we’d like to introduce you to one of our animals, Sophie the Tanuki aka Raccoon Dog.

She used to be kept as someone’s pet, until they could no longer look after her.

She now lives happily with us at Hopefield, where all her needs are met and she is cared for to the highest standard.

Tanuki originate from Asian countries such as Japan, and are unfortunately used throughout the fur trade and are increasingly found in the pet trade.

These poor animals should never be kept as pets - they need specialist care and attention.

If you’re thinking about coming to visit, please bare in mind that our last day of being open to the public will be Monday, December 24 - after that we’ll be closed until March.

Our current open hours are Friday - Monday 11am-4pm.

Don’t forget, our Christmas Carol service will be taking place on Sunday, December 23 at 6pm.

Please arrive in good time to ensure you are seated. Space is limited.

See you soon!
