Well why wait when you can start today and meet new people at the borough’s Friendship Cafe.

The free event where residents can go along and have a cup of tea today, Friday, December 28, from 1-3.30pm at Merrymeade House, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood.

The free event is being run by the council, with refreshments provided by Merrymeade Café.

It is supported by the local authority’s health and wellbeing board and aims to provide a little bit of company for those who may not want to be on their own during this time.

Chairwoman of the health and wellbeing board, Councillor Olivia Sanders, said: “Often just after Christmas, when family and friends may have gone home, is a time when some people can feel socially isolated or lonely.

“We are encouraging residents to come along to the café, have a cuppa, chat to other residents and make new friends.”
