Thousands of pounds were raised for The Guide Dogs of the Blind Association with a special coffee morning.

The charity held the event yesterday, Thursday, October 12, at the Mount Avenue Banqueting Suite, Mount Avenue, Shenfield, where there was plenty of things to do to keep visitors busy.

From stalls, a raffle and tombola, to handmade crafts, fresh cakes and a visit from the Mayor of Brentwood Sheila Murphy, the day was jam-packed.

There were also plenty of well-behaved guide dogs and puppies to keep everyone in high spirits as well.

More than £2,400 was raised on the day.

Puppy walker, fundraiser and spokeswoman for the charity Brenda Weaver said: “Everyone who attended said the atmosphere was fantastic and all of our dogs from pups, working dogs and retired were very well behaved.

“The local community enjoy this event and look forward to it every year in Guide Dog Week.

“We would like to thank our main supporters Mount Avenue Banqueting Suites Shenfield and the independent Estate Agents Parry Cohen.”

If any businesses would like to fundraise for the charity or have a collection box, call Brenda on 07753482351 or email brendaweav1@aol.com
