Throwback Thursday: Shenfield Common then and now

Take a look at our picture from the past!
Shenfield Common was owned by a number of landowners before it became a public park in 1881.
An avenue of lime trees was planted in 1895 to give unemployed residents work.
A bandstand once stood on the site and was used by bands from the Warley Barracks and the pond was the perfect place for horses to have a drink of water when they needed rest.
