A care home invited the community to join its arty celebrations at the weekend for Care Home Open Day.
Sycamore Court, Magpie Lane, Warley, opened its doors on Saturday, June 29, for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and local communities.
This year's theme celebrated the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents' self-expression and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Sycamore Court organised an art-themed party to celebrate the day, with prints on display from Brentwood artists who had participated in the 2019 Essex Summer of Art, promoting all the amazing work of the largest visual arts festival in the county.
As part of the annual initiative, Sycamore Court residents also developed their own works of art in the lead up to the open day, which was showcased at the event.
Visitors also enjoyed entertainment, an ice cream van, activities and creative crafts sessions with the children and residents.
Activity co-ordinator Julie Morrison said: "The aim of this year's Care Home Open Day is to demonstrate how care homes can be creative communities, and how they can provide a thriving hub of activity as well as a fun day out for all the family.
"We loved meeting the people of Brentwood and celebrating the vibrant environment in our home."
