Pupils performed a moving Remembrance assembly for their parents and the wider school community to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Children in Year 1 at the Ursuline Preparatory School, Great Warley, explained the importance of remembering those servicemen and women who have been killed or injured in the service of their country.

After they recited poems as well, including In Flanders Fields, by John McCrae, the school bell was rung and the children and their audience held two minutes silence.

Headmistress Pauline Wilson said: “We were very impressed with the way the children performed and conducted themselves, they were eloquent when speaking and sang their hymns and songs beautifully.

“A fitting tribute for an important day of remembrance.”
