A nine-year-old star tennis player can now add children's author and Aamazon best seller to her growing list of achievements.

Brentwood Preparatory School pupil Tahlia Avandare, one of Essex’s top Under 9 tennis players, has written her first book Life of a Junior Tennis Player, in a bid to share her love of the sport and to inspire other children keen on starting their own tennis journey.

The collection of short stories has already been ranked number one in the Amazon Young Adult (Racket Sports) category.

After a busy summer of tournaments, Tahlia moved up the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) rankings and now regularly trains with Essex as a county player.

Younger sister Teccla, who is in Year 1 at the school, has already been inspired by her sibling and is herself a budding tennis player.

Headmaster Jason Whiskerd said: “Tahlia is clearly a talented tennis player but the most gratifying element is that she has chosen to chronicle her approach to self-improvement to help others.

“This certainly mirrors the sentiments our School motto of Virtue, Learning, Manners and we are certainly very proud of her.”

Tahlia’s book can be purchased through Amazon.
